US Treasury to double long-term bond buybacks; Bessent signals fiscal push as each could top $4 billion

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Treasury bond buybacks could exceed $4 billion per issue, after the department announced plans to at least double purchases of longer-dated debt. He also signalled a stronger fiscal consolidation push to curb the deficit and reduce borrowing costs.
